Planning To Put Your Home Up For Sale? Make Sure Your Curb Appeal Is Up To Par

If you are putting your home up for sale, you have likely done everything you can to get it ready. You may have focused mostly on things in the inside of your home, but the outside is just as important. If you think about it, the exterior is the very first thing people see when they drive up, and this will give them their first impression of your home. Below are some things you need to check to see if you need to make any changes.

Gutters

Unless you have new gutters, walk around the perimeter of your home and inspect the gutters. Make sure they are completely tight and not hanging loose anywhere. Also, inspect the inside of the gutters for any kind of debris. You never know if a potential buyers will want to see this or not.

If the gutters are faded and losing paint, you should paint them to make them look new again. If you paint the gutters, go ahead and paint the soffit and fascia on the roof while you are up there.

If your gutters are very old, you should consider going ahead and replacing them with brand-new gutters.

Front Porch

If your home has a front porch, look closely at the steps, posts, and railings. If they do not look like they are in good shape, painting them can bring them back to life and give your porch a brand-new look. Place some hanging flower baskets on the porch and put a pretty welcome mat in front of the door. Replace the porch light with a new one, if needed, and replace the hardware on your door if it is old. If the door is old, you can paint it to make it look brand new. If you decide to do this, make sure you choose a color that goes well with your home. Once the door is painted and has dried, hang a pretty wreath on it.

Exterior Vinyl Siding

If your home has vinyl siding and it has not been washed in some time, it likely has built-up dirt on it. If so, you can use a power washer to get the vinyl siding looking brand new again. When power washing, hold the wand at an angle. Holding the wand completely straight on the siding puts a lot of pressure on it, which could result in damage.

Purchase some soap designed for vinyl siding, or simply put a few drops of dish liquid in warm water and fill up the pressure tank. When you are finished, replace the soapy water with clean water and go over the siding again to rinse away the cleaner.

If the vinyl siding still looks dirty, this would be a good time to paint it. Choose a neutral color that goes well with the other homes in your neighborhood.

About Me

Flipping Fixer Upper Homes

There is a lot of interest in flipping fixer upper homes, thanks in part to the various reality shows involving the subject that you can watch on TV. However, what you see on TV isn't always the reality of this type of work. My name is Mark Chavez and I have worked flipping fixer upper homes for over a decade now. While I love the work, there isn't always as much profit as they show on television and not every flip is successful. I decided to create this website to talk about the pros, cons and truths surrounding this industry. If you have been thinking about buying a home to flip, I hope my website educates you so you have a real idea as to what you can expect.
